Frequently asked questions.
Are you a Veterinarian?
No, I am not a Veterinarian or DVM.
I am a Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) - think like a nurse in the human world. I am a medical professional, I have a degree and I have passed the Veterinary Technician National Exam (VTNE) to obtain a license. I have undergone rigorous training and education to provide top-notch medical care for furry friends big and small. I also maintain my license by earning continuing education credits to renew my license every 2 years.
Since I am not a Veterinarian there are 4 things that I legally cannot do for your pet:
Diagnose a condition
Perform surgery
Give a prognosis
Prescribe medications
Additionally, because I do not work at/for a particular vet clinic and I am not under the direct supervision of a Veterinarian I also cannot perform the following services:
Administer vaccinations
Perform humane euthanasia
I am not a replacement for Veterinarian advice or treatment. Please contact your primary care Veterinarian for medications, diagnostics, emergencies and/or euthanasia.
How much does it cost for you to come to my house?
Most of my services are within the $20-$50 range. In addition to the individual service fee(s), there may be a mileage fee associated with my visits depending on your location. Clients whose address fall within 15 miles of my home in the 45424 zip code will not incur a mileage fee. A mileage fee based on the current years IRS standard mileage rate will be applied for addresses outside of the 15 mile radius .
Do you offer pet sitting?
Yes and no. I do offer pet sitting in the form of up to 3 drop-in visits and/or walks per day but overnight stays are not available. I personally use Rover.com for my pets when we take trips out of town.
What is Fear Free®?
Fear Free® is a concept and movement focused on reducing fear, anxiety, and stress (FAS) in animals during veterinary visits and other interactions (grooming, training, pet sitting, etc.). It involves creating a safe and positive environment, using gentle handling techniques, and providing education to pet professionals and pet owners. The goal is to make interactions with animals as positive and comfortable as possible for both the animal and the people involved.

Can multiple pets be seen during an appointment?
Yes! Helping more than one pet per visit can be very convenient for you and me. For visits with multiple pets we will schedule enough time to accommodate each of them.
What happens if my pet is still fearful, anxious and stressed at home?
My goal with providing in-home services is to minimize fear, stress and anxiety for your pets. If during a visit I am not able to complete a service due to safety or elevated FAS, the client will not be responsible for payment of the services that were not completed one time only. I will encourage you to work with your veterinarian about options for Pre Visit Pharmaceuticals (PVPs) for future visits.
